A new version of PySide is now available.<br /><br />What’s changed since 0.3.0?<br /><br />With the technical preview release a few weeks ago we moved from a Boost based source code to a CPython one. This move was necessary to reduce our footprint. Now we have the first official release of this new PySide based on Shiboken (CPython) generator. Since the technical preview the main points are:<br /><br />- Bindings for the last missing modules: Phonon, QtScript, QtScriptTools, QtMaemo5, QtHelp, QtMultimedia, QUiTools and QXmlPatterns;<br />- Fixed some memory and reference leaks;<br />- Lots of bugs fixed;<br />- Revamped documentation.<br /><br />For more Qt 4.6 information, <a href="http://qt.nokia.com/doc/4.6/qt4-6-intro.html">Qt 4.6 webpage</a><br /><br />We hope you enjoy this new release! Some time ago I start a new implementation of a Ogre OpenGLES render system, to get this running in the future on Maemo devices, I finished this but never get a chance to see this working on Maemo. But now the things have changed and the new Maemo device already have support to OpenGLES, and my code was merged in Ogre mainline, I can go back and start the test but first I need update this to OpenGLES 2.0 because the old code is implemented on OpenGLES 1.0. I will keep you updated about the news and I hope show some videos :D. <br><br /><br><br /><span style="font-weight:bold;">Ogre OpenGL render system</span>: http://ogre.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/ogre/trunk/RenderSystems/GLES/src/<span class="net_nemein_favourites">19 <a href="http://maemo.org/news/?net_nemein_favourites_execute=fav&net_nemein_favourites_execute_for=0d35c054d51b11dea98177ee242663d163d1&net_nemein_favourites_url=https://maemo.org/news/favorites//json/fav/midgard_article/0d35c054d51b11dea98177ee242663d163d1/" class="net_nemein_favourites_create"><img src="http://static.maemo.org:81/net.nemein.favourites/not-favorite.png" style="border: none;" alt="Add to favourites" title="Add to favourites" /></a>0 <a href="http://maemo.org/news/?net_nemein_favourites_execute=bury&net_nemein_favourites_execute_for=0d35c054d51b11dea98177ee242663d163d1&net_nemein_favourites_url=https://maemo.org/news/favorites//json/bury/midgard_article/0d35c054d51b11dea98177ee242663d163d1/" class="net_nemein_favourites_create"><img src="http://static.maemo.org:81/net.nemein.favourites/not-buried.png" style="border: none;" alt="Bury" title="Bury" /></a></span>]]></description>

Last month, I spend some time trying to learn OpenGL ES[1] and to practice it, I'm been working on new OGRE[2] render backend to mobile devices. In order to test this, I've used some software OpenGL ES simulation like Vincent[3] and PowerVR[4].<br><br />At the moment, I've already got the basics OGRE samples running, but there are some things to be fixed, which I intend to fix on the following weeks.<br><br />If someone is interested in this code, send me a e-mail and I can send it back, When everything work well, I will send this to OGRE guys.<br><br /><br><br />[1]http://www.khronos.org/opengles/<br><br />[2]http://www.ogre3d.org/<br><br />[3]http://sourceforge.net/projects/ogl-es<br><br />[4]http://www.imgtec.com/powervr/insider/powervr-insider.asp<br><span class="net_nemein_favourites">4 <a href="http://maemo.org/news/?net_nemein_favourites_execute=fav&net_nemein_favourites_execute_for=21a7c374640711dda3706b3ec0c7fedbfedb&net_nemein_favourites_url=https://maemo.org/news/favorites//json/fav/midgard_article/21a7c374640711dda3706b3ec0c7fedbfedb/" class="net_nemein_favourites_create"><img src="http://static.maemo.org:81/net.nemein.favourites/not-favorite.png" style="border: none;" alt="Add to favourites" title="Add to favourites" /></a>0 <a href="http://maemo.org/news/?net_nemein_favourites_execute=bury&net_nemein_favourites_execute_for=21a7c374640711dda3706b3ec0c7fedbfedb&net_nemein_favourites_url=https://maemo.org/news/favorites//json/bury/midgard_article/21a7c374640711dda3706b3ec0c7fedbfedb/" class="net_nemein_favourites_create"><img src="http://static.maemo.org:81/net.nemein.favourites/not-buried.png" style="border: none;" alt="Bury" title="Bury" /></a></span>]]></description>

Ok, this not the best key layout to play games, and the display is not multitouch to implement a virtual controller, but it is possible to have fun playing games.<br /><br /> During the last weekend, I spent some time porting the snes9x[1] Zauros version[2], to n810 and integrating this with osso api to handle mime types by file manager, and create the maemo package[3].<br /><br /> Because of the lack of time, the current version has some problems: the sound is not 100% and you can get some screen flicks during the startup.<br /><br /><br /> <br /> The current controller config is:<bt><br /><br /><br /> A = +<br /><br /> B = - <br /><br /> X = ' <br /><br /> Y = L <br /><br /> L = K <br /><br /> R = ; <br /><br /> START = space <br /><br /> SELECT = chr <br /><br /><br /><br /> 6 to 9 = state load <br /><br /> SHIFT + 6 to 9 = state save <br /><br /><br /> <br /> RESET = SHIFT + R <br /><br /> QUIT = q <br /><br /><br /> <br />[1] <a href="http://www.snes9x.com/">http://www.snes9x.com/</a> <br /><br />[2] <a href="http://www.suhami.net/ez/?page_id=16">http://www.suhami.net/ez/?page_id=16</a><br /><br />[3] <a href="http://www.renatofilho.com/files/snes9x_1.0-1_armel.deb">http://www.renatofilho.com/files/snes9x_1.0-1_armel.deb</a><br /><span class="net_nemein_favourites">3 <a href="http://maemo.org/news/?net_nemein_favourites_execute=fav&net_nemein_favourites_execute_for=32880a98981311dcb9a31b064305a8e9a8e9&net_nemein_favourites_url=https://maemo.org/news/favorites//json/fav/midgard_article/32880a98981311dcb9a31b064305a8e9a8e9/" class="net_nemein_favourites_create"><img src="http://static.maemo.org:81/net.nemein.favourites/not-favorite.png" style="border: none;" alt="Add to favourites" title="Add to favourites" /></a>0 <a href="http://maemo.org/news/?net_nemein_favourites_execute=bury&net_nemein_favourites_execute_for=32880a98981311dcb9a31b064305a8e9a8e9&net_nemein_favourites_url=https://maemo.org/news/favorites//json/bury/midgard_article/32880a98981311dcb9a31b064305a8e9a8e9/" class="net_nemein_favourites_create"><img src="http://static.maemo.org:81/net.nemein.favourites/not-buried.png" style="border: none;" alt="Bury" title="Bury" /></a></span>]]></description>

In this screenshot you can see it running on scratchbox. With this new SDK is much more simple to port the currents GTK applications as the changes in maemo_app_view make this more similar and you do not need create "workarounds" :).<br /><br /><br />If you want port your application, in maemo.org[2] you can find a lot of documents to help in this task, this doc[3] is very helpful.<br /><br /><br /><br />[1]<a href="http://www.abisource.com/">http://www.abisource.com/</a><br /><br />[2]<a href="http://maemo.org/development/documentation">http://maemo.org/development/documentation</a><br /><br />[3]<a href="https://stage.maemo.org/svn/maemo/projects/haf/doc/hildon-window-migration-guide/appview2window.ps">https://stage.maemo.org/svn/maemo/projects/haf/doc/hildon-window-migration-guide/appview2window.ps</a><span class="net_nemein_favourites">2 <a href="http://maemo.org/news/?net_nemein_favourites_execute=fav&net_nemein_favourites_execute_for=c6435dc27f4b11dcae3715b71d64747e747e&net_nemein_favourites_url=https://maemo.org/news/favorites//json/fav/midgard_article/c6435dc27f4b11dcae3715b71d64747e747e/" class="net_nemein_favourites_create"><img src="http://static.maemo.org:81/net.nemein.favourites/not-favorite.png" style="border: none;" alt="Add to favourites" title="Add to favourites" /></a>0 <a href="http://maemo.org/news/?net_nemein_favourites_execute=bury&net_nemein_favourites_execute_for=c6435dc27f4b11dcae3715b71d64747e747e&net_nemein_favourites_url=https://maemo.org/news/favorites//json/bury/midgard_article/c6435dc27f4b11dcae3715b71d64747e747e/" class="net_nemein_favourites_create"><img src="http://static.maemo.org:81/net.nemein.favourites/not-buried.png" style="border: none;" alt="Bury" title="Bury" /></a></span>]]></description>

            <link>http://tuxrecife.blogspot.com/2007/10/xomap-3x-more-fast.html</link>
            <description><![CDATA[
During these days I found this patch[1] from Dan Amelang about a Xorg optimization to work with pixbuf composite (888 over 565). This patch makes Xorg about 3x faster. I made a little change in the patch for optimization of another function too.<br /><br /><br />I've exchanged some e-mails with Dan, and apparently this patch has a problem with small images but I didn't find this problem yet. If someone would like to try this patch you can install the package[2] above and if you get the bug, please report to me. But be careful because this patch is an experimental code and can freeze your X server.<br /><br /><br /><br />You can verify the performance with this example code[3].<br /><br /><br /><br />[1]<a onclick="return top.js.OpenExtLink(window,event,this)" href="http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/xorg/2007-April/024286.html" target="_blank">http://lists.freedesktop.org<wbr>/archives/xorg/2007-April<wbr>/024286.html</a><br /><br />[2]<a href="http://www.renatofilho.com/files/xserver-xomap_1.1.99.3-0osso37_armel.deb">http://www.renatofilho.com/files/xserver-xomap_1.1.99.3-0osso37_armel.deb</a><br /><br />[3]http://amelang.net/composite_pixbuf.c, <a href="http://www.renatofilho.com/files/composite_pixbuf">http://www.renatofilho.com/files/composite_pixbuf</a><span class="net_nemein_favourites">2 <a href="http://maemo.org/news/?net_nemein_favourites_execute=fav&net_nemein_favourites_execute_for=1670f64a7b3411dca08529875be9d35bd35b&net_nemein_favourites_url=https://maemo.org/news/favorites//json/fav/midgard_article/1670f64a7b3411dca08529875be9d35bd35b/" class="net_nemein_favourites_create"><img src="http://static.maemo.org:81/net.nemein.favourites/not-favorite.png" style="border: none;" alt="Add to favourites" title="Add to favourites" /></a>0 <a href="http://maemo.org/news/?net_nemein_favourites_execute=bury&net_nemein_favourites_execute_for=1670f64a7b3411dca08529875be9d35bd35b&net_nemein_favourites_url=https://maemo.org/news/favorites//json/bury/midgard_article/1670f64a7b3411dca08529875be9d35bd35b/" class="net_nemein_favourites_create"><img src="http://static.maemo.org:81/net.nemein.favourites/not-buried.png" style="border: none;" alt="Bury" title="Bury" /></a></span>]]></description>

            <description><![CDATA[
The last days I have used my free time to read about cairo and X acceleration. I created some tests to verify cairo performance on N800, because this is the main component for a GtkCanvas, this need be fast, cworth[1] and another cairo guys have helped me a lot in irc channel. I am still working on some tests and making some optimizations to get the best results and very soon I will publish the results.<br /><br /><br /><span chatdir="1">The problem is that in N800 device the current version of cairo does not have full support for RGB 565 surfaces, and these days I read in the blog[2] from openmoko[3] guys that they have the same problems.<br /><br /><br /></span>Another great thing is the current performance of EXA acceleration, you can see this on this benchmark[4] posted by cworth[1].<br /><br /><br /><br />[1]http://cworth.org/<br /><br />[2]http://blogs.gnome.org/thos/2007/09/26/partial-tv-fame/<br /><br />[3]http://www.openmoko.org/<br /><br />[4]http://wiki.x.org/wiki/ExaStatus<br /><br />[5]http://cworth.org/exa/i965/render_bench/<span class="net_nemein_favourites">0 <a href="http://maemo.org/news/?net_nemein_favourites_execute=fav&net_nemein_favourites_execute_for=78b2ca78734f11dc9f0e2b427c3fb5adb5ad&net_nemein_favourites_url=https://maemo.org/news/favorites//json/fav/midgard_article/78b2ca78734f11dc9f0e2b427c3fb5adb5ad/" class="net_nemein_favourites_create"><img src="http://static.maemo.org:81/net.nemein.favourites/not-favorite.png" style="border: none;" alt="Add to favourites" title="Add to favourites" /></a>0 <a href="http://maemo.org/news/?net_nemein_favourites_execute=bury&net_nemein_favourites_execute_for=78b2ca78734f11dc9f0e2b427c3fb5adb5ad&net_nemein_favourites_url=https://maemo.org/news/favorites//json/bury/midgard_article/78b2ca78734f11dc9f0e2b427c3fb5adb5ad/" class="net_nemein_favourites_create"><img src="http://static.maemo.org:81/net.nemein.favourites/not-buried.png" style="border: none;" alt="Bury" title="Bury" /></a></span>]]></description>
