[Porting duplicity to Maemo] Version 0.6.00 Released

New in v0.6.00 (2009/06/08)
---------------------------
Checkpoint/Restart capability added. Checkpoint is
done at every volume written and Restart is done at
start of the next volume in the set. Changes to
normal operations include a permanent duplicity
archive-dir at ~/.duplicity to save state.

To accomplish this, the signature and archive files
in the archive-dir now have three states:
1) temporary until the first volume has been written,
2) partial until the final volume has been written and
 sent to remote storage,
3) permanent with the same name as always.

Assumptions are made that if a restart is needed, then
all arguments are the same as before and that no files
have been removed from the file system between runs.

From now on, the --archive-dir option can be used to
change the location of the archive dir, but you are
responsible for moving the files if you change it.

Other fixes:
Unicode filenames in log messages are now OK.

Fixed problem where Cygwin was returning -1 for the
hard max open file limit.

During the Canola presentation in the Mozilla/Maemo Danish Weekend event that is taking place at the IT University of Copenhagen, Eduardo Lima, also known as Etrunko, one of the maintainers and core developers of Canola, announced that the following statement will be added to the license:

"The copyright holders grant you an additional permission under Section 7 of the GNU General Public License, version 3, exempting you from the requirement in Section 6 of the GNU General Public License, version 3, to accompany Corresponding Source with Installation Information for the Program or any work based on the Program. You are still required to comply with all other Section 6 requirements to provide Corresponding Source."

As you know, section 7 of GPLv3 allows copyright holders to issue additional permissions and this specific additional permission is compliant with the said section 7. The language for this additional permission has been written according to the requirements of GPLv3. We believe this additional permission enables wider use of Canola2 in different kind of business models and product offerings, especially in CE devices. This additional permission combines the best parts of GPLv2 and GPLv3 experiences. We encourage other projects to consider use of this additional permission if they have similar needs.

Code has been changed to comply with this license, and is is available at http://code.openbossa.org

Add generator for blip.tv, finger scrolling playlist is now one to one and support for media tags in RSS feeds.

Blip TV provides multiple links for search results. These links are listed with mimetype and file size in the playlist. For playback without saving, the lowest file size should be chosen. When saved first, a larger file may work well too.

When RSS feeds have media tags, like the "PodShow TV", KMPlayer presents the links like the blip.tv generator. Here too, the links point to files (and thus not meant for streaming). So saving files first will improve playback.

ChangeLog:
* Make finger scroll of playlist one pixel move, one pixel scroll
* Also add summary page for RSS feeds with media tags
* Fix hang when input data of a generator has invalid utf8 characters
* Add ge* Fix hang when input data of a generator has invalid utf8 characters
* Add generator for blip.tvnerator for blip.tv

Just published a script which helps us to convert svn repos to git. It has been tested on small projects only and it is not yet integrated to the garage framework. The plan is to find some more test candidate projects and then integrate the stuff to the web site, so that projects can migrate their svn repos by a single click.

Take a look at the gitweb of this project:

Kudos for byrnejb (James Byrne) for a great howto:

This is the initial release of Conboy. Conboy is a note taking application that can read and write Tomboy files. There is still a lot to do, but the basics are working.

[git plugin for GForge v4.5.20+] www publishing scripts in svn

I added the scripts to handle publishing of www directories of projects using git repository at git.maemo.org.
The _pro version is to be called from the "update" hook. The non-pro is for manual executions. There is also a wrapper that can call the publisher script for a bunch of repositories within a directory.
