Maemo Fremantle and Diablo SDK Virtual Image Final version released

The Maemo Eclipse Integration 2nd Edition project has released new out-of-the-box ready Maemo SDK Virtual Image based on Ubuntu Intrepid Desktop and supporting VMWare, VirtualBox and QEMU. This new Maemo SDK Virtual Image include full Maemo Fremantle 5.0 SDK and Diablo 4.1.2 Development Environments preinstalled.

MAEMO SDK VIRTUAL DESKTOP IMAGE DETAILS

Image version: Maemo SDK Virtual Desktop Image - Final

Image release date: 22.01.2010

Virtualization techniques supported: VMWare, VirtualBox, QEMU

Estimated size: 9.5GB (normal) and 1.6GB (compressed - 7-zip format)

Image download link: http://tablets-dev.nokia.com/maemo-dev-env-downloads.php

Ubuntu base release

Distribution: Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex

Version: 8.10

Edition: Desktop, Intel x86

Date: 30.10.2008

URL: http://releases.ubuntu.com/intrepid/

Maemo SDK base releases

All the latest official Ubuntu Intrepid Desktop and Maemo SDK updates that were available at image release date are included. For installation you need to have either VMWare environment like VMWare Player 3.0 or 2.5 (2.5 recommended as first 3.x versions have problems maintaining ssh connections), VirtualBox 3.x environment (PUEL version as open source version does not support USB well enough) or QEMU environment (KQEMU accelerator recommended) installed and configured for your computer. For Maemo SDK Virtual Image installation you need to have 7-Zip uncompression tool because standard command line zip tools are not able to handle archives bigger than about 2GB (with zip compression archive size is bigger than 2GB).

FILES INCLUDED TO THIS MAEMO SDK VIRTUAL IMAGE DELIVERY

Readme_Ubuntu_Intrepid_Desktop_SDK_Virtual_Image_Final.txt
- readme file for the image

Maemo 5 Beta 2 bugfix release: Time for Quality Assurance

Nokia has released the Maemo 5 Beta 2 SDK, integrating many fixes reported by developers in previous releases. This release, combined with the recent improvements in the Fremantle Extras repository provide a solid basis to get your software ready for the Maemo 5 final release. Other features include the possibility to develop Status Area plugins and the update of the developer documentation in editable wiki pages ready to receive your contributions.

The Extras repository is the main channel of distribution of community and open source software for Maemo users. The maemo.org community team and Nokia are collaborating in the implementation of a quality assurance process based on automated tests and the evaluations of betatesters. The Extras autobuilder is now synced with the Beta 2 SDK content and an automated testing process makes sure the packages uploaded to extras-devel (unstable repository) fulfill the most basic functional requirements before being promoted to extras-testing.
