Comments:
Figured it out ... libpurple0 and pidgin were both providing /etc/purple/prefs.xml ... 2.7.5-2nix1 should fix that ... :)
right. now when I try to upgrade, I get this
If you run apt-get -f install, it figures out that the solution is to upgrade libpurple0 to 2.7.5-2nix0 ... I don't understand why it doesn't figure that out right away ...
OK, so, NM ... the same thing is true for 2.7.3-0nix2 ... pidgin depends on libpurple0 (>= 2.7.0) whereas purple-extra-protocols depends on libpurple0 (>= 2.7.3-0nix2)
So, something may have changed in the way apt/dpkg works with the latest update ...
Hmmm ... you do have a point ... for some reason, pidgin ends up depending on libpurple0 (>= 2.7.0) whereas purple-extra-protocols ends up depending on libpurple0 (>= 2.7.5-2nix0) ... I don't understand why, when you install purple-extras-protocols, it refuses to pull in libpurple0 ...
Have you tried upgrading from Hildon Application Manager?
