The search feature is great. There's a little bug: keeping maep opened in the background results in not automatically turning off the screen. The feature should be enabled only when maep is the active app.

Thanks for the bugs reports. Both problems (segfault and wrong bug tracker link) are fixed in SVN and will be included in the next version.

Shouldn't the bug-tracker be pointing to https://garage.maemo.org/tracker/?group_id=1155 instead of https://garage.maemo.org/tracker/?group_id=1150 ?

• wait for wikipedia hits to be displayed
• touch a wikipedia hit to display its name
• uncheck Wikipedia in the menu
• this will remove the hits but keep the wikipedia name bubble displayed.

Thank you very much for the info and details. And as you put it, if i cant zoom 2x more, i cant :) still nice app.

• Maep just displays pre-rendered tiles. It can only zoom as far in as the map server provides the required tiles. It already gives you all zoom levels available
• Maep is meant to be simple, not to be configurable to every detail. So the blue dot will stay. Sorry ...
• Same as above for the map selection: This would just add another layer of configuration without increasing functionality. If you don't want to use certain maps you just don't have to select them. Or am i misunderstanding you?
• "A description to get maps downloaded"? You want instructions how to fill the tile cache beforehand, right? I don't think this should be part of maep, but instead requires some (yet to be written) map cache maintenance tool (which would also allow to refresh or purge the tile cache). Also since maep shares the tile cache with other programs like gpxview and (planned) maemo-mapper, a central point to handle this makes more sense than to handle thise inside one or more of those apps
• Regarding the GPS position: Maep just displays what the GPS layer reports. If it reports outdated positions once being started by maep then there isn't much maep can do about this. Maep interrupts the track whenever the GPS layer reports invalid positions. But Maep cannot know if the positions reported by the GPS layer in Maemo are the correct ones.

This app works great but i have wishes for it.

I MUST be able to zoom in closer, at least 2x more.

I would like the "blue dot" to be not blue but any other signal color.

I would really like to be able to choose what map providers to be visible and a description to get maps downloaded before using.

I have an example here of a test use.

I tracked my way walking home, worked very good until i got into my apartment building and home. Then there was some spinning before the GPS suddenly decided i was 2km from my home. Can you get it to stop where i last was before it suddenly sends me far off from where i am. And I really like the option to export trace, that way i can save a rout trace and give to my girlfriend that have the exact same phone.
