Simple Wake On Lan application
Don't like having your media servers running all the time but don't want to go press the switch button when you need them? This simple application will broadcast magic packets to the local network and wake up computers that support this feature. The computer to wake up is identified by the network adapter MAC address. You can use the IP address or the host name of a powered on computer to find out its MAC address.

mmv is a program to move/copy/append/link multiple files according to a set of wildcard patterns. This multiple action is performed safely, i.e. without any unexpected deletion of files due to collisions of target names with existing filenames or with other target names.

Synchronise folders locally and remotely
This is a frontend for rsync, the commandline directory synchronization tool. It makes use of the GTK libraries and is released under the GPL license, so it is opensource. It doesn't support all of rsync features yet, but can be effectively used to synchronize local or even remote directories. For example some people use grsync to synchronize their music collection with removable devices or to backup personal files to a networked drive.

Pauses the media player when headphones are unplugged
The headphone daemon sits in the background and watches the connection state of headphones on the N800/N810 and N900. Whenever the headphones are unplugged, headphoned will send a "pause" signal to the mediaplayer to avoid "public transport situations".
