Thanks Faheem.
You added value to our phones.
Simple brightness statusarea applet
Allows you to: * Adjust the brightness from 1-5; * Launch the Display Settings Control Panel applet; and * Keep the backlight on.

Useful applet. I can quickly make the screen never turn off, useful when reading something long. :)
One more vote here to have this app as a standard.
For me, it is particularly useful the "Keep display on" option. I have my phone set up to block itself, but if I need it on for a while, let's say I'm looking at it to watch a timer (like Tickstill) I don't want to change my settings just for that.
I wonder why Nokia did not include this must have util. in the new pr1.2 firmware. Great work.
Anyone help with why this won't install. It downloads as simple-brightness-applet.install, but PC Suite doesn't want to know it. I got my N900 yesterday, so be kind, please.
does what its says on the tin. Thank you and I'll also say that this should be standard. Nokia please listen to your users.
Can only adhere to what's expressed earlier: * simpel * easy to use * power saving * can't live without it
Big smiley to you Faheem, for the effort!
Pas mal et très pratique... Malheureusement pas configurable.
For saving battery is good but best is to keep the screen on, a must if you VNC to the phone.
Very good, very useful, must-have.
Personally, I'd like another step between 4 and 5. I see that 4 is "64" and 5 is "255" which is a very big step and there are times that I'd really like to have a 4.5 step.
Very useful day to day app. I use it regularly. Thanks !!
Does just what it says. This is a must-have addon until the stock software gets this feature included.
Great! Thank you for adding one of the missing bits.
I felt something was missing when I upgraded from the N800 (still 3rd party app though).
Would be nice if you could have finer control (as in the N8x0)
Does what it says on the tin...very useful. And who give's it 1 star because the repos are down?? Ridiculous.
Ian, if you had bothered to read the announcements on maemo.org's front page, you would know that the repositories are down.
I'm trying to install this in App Manager, but it just keeps saying "Downloading 'Simple Brightness Applet' failed"
It is simple, it is working, it is useful. I like it!
Does what it promises. Useful for those late dark nights or middays in sunlight.
great, i have it on the lowest level to save energie and if i need more brightness i can simply switch. thank you :)
any know how much batt life this app can save? is it significant? or is it more for aesthetics?
Does the N900 support the 12 or 16 levels of brightness of N8x0? If so, it would be nice see finer control.
The applet does exactly what it claims. Useful if you frequently change brightness manually.
