oh and I'd like to report a bug in pidgin status

for now it's impossible to modify an existing saved status, because when you select it in status list, it'll be automatically selected as your current status (same with select and choose "use"), so it'd be impossible to choose "modify" hope you can fix it along with updating with more recent pidgin version thanks

For people asking about different protocols, there are other packages with support for them.

Usually I have xmmp opened by the implemented libraries (in contact list), but Pidgin makes possible to do other things very useful like "alarms" when someone gets online, etc.

Will you be able to fix the sound issue? Since till now, it'll always use default sound regardless what you choose in the Preferences

And if it's not too much to ask, FastSMSEvo's portrait keyboard in Pidgin would be neat. Since Pidgin itself is already nice in portrait orientation. It just missed a way to make input in portrait mode

Without voice and video support its fells like undone messenger for the N900.. i cant imagine any better device than N900 with the MSN video/voice call support!!!

Great! My first time to try Pidgin and I think it is goodbye to stock Conversations. One thing though, is it possible to flash the notification light (to blue) when I receive an IM while I am away? Don't want to unlock the phone to see if I have new IMs.

lately i have been getting intermittent certificate error messages preventing login to my msn accounts. is it just me? its annoying as pidgin is my most used app

Great app.

However if the user name for an account is too long; when the accounts option is selected only a left arrow shows up.

This sucks. My accounts.xml file constantly goes bad and has to be deleted for the program to sign in without immediately crashing. It's worked fine in the past, but now it is very irritating to use. Maemo needs a better MSN client, as powerful as this but much more stable.

This works pretty well from me: I use Facebook and Google chat and they are OK.

One thing that concerns me are the unwanted status messages - they seem impossible to remove? How to delete?

@Anas Alhajeh: Pidgin does not yet support voice/video for Yahoo. Only XMPP is currently supported, and I haven't managed to port even that to Maemo yet.

@Pete Teoh: Fullscreen support for both the buddy list and the conversations window is coming in Pidgin 2.6.6. It is currently in testing. Give it a thumbs up here:

Needs some GUI work, but you can just use the Conversations plug-in to overcome that.

Thanks for your work porting Pidgin to Maemo 5. It works well. Is there a way to run this in full screen mode to maximize the use of screen real estate on the N900?

nice app even though i will use the built-in im-solution because of integration in the contact profiles and history.

but if these fail to work (like in this moment icq does) it's great to have. and because i'm using pidgin on my karmic koala laptop i can import/export the logs. :D

I haven't really tested A/V, but I think it's only avaiable for XMPP accounts a.k.a Google Talk, jabber.org, etc.

Very nice application. Fast and reliable. Why video & audio communication are disabled? Cant choose them.
