It's alright... But the only thing I use that media player doen't support is mkv... Does this support it? When I open it displays the correct ratio, but sits there "buffering"... reminds me of RMplayer

SiB is a GUI frontend for mplayer, as I dont use mplayer GUIs I cant tell where to download a n900 version but there is KMPlayer in extras.
Hi guys
I am a newbie here. Can someone explain what SIB is and where I can download the app?
Many thanks
Hmmm, just one question: how it works? I am not a tech freak, just a simple user. I installed the MPlayer from here, but no icon was added to applications list and i dont know how to start it. Any help appreciated...
It effectively adds a lot of support where Gstreamer leaves off, the command line only problem is easily remedied with a GUI frontend like SIS or KMplayer. For some reason though for me it performs much worse than Gstreamer for H264/AAC files. Even a modest 1000kb/s video file has a slow play rate causing the video and audio to come out of sync while it works perfectly all the way up to and past 1500kb/s on Gstreamer.
Excellent :)
For mplayer i would say that SIB is the smartest GUI - it's not as shiny as kmplayer but it's way less resource hungry and it seems that it starts mplayer with the best options to optimize it for use on the n900.
mplayer + SIB simply kicks ass. forget gstreamer and vlc for now. ;)

With this command-line player (you can use it with "mplayer /path/to/file") you can play almost any video format. If you like a GUI front-end for mplayer you can use KMPlayer or SiB. I have clips that default player couldn't play them (I installed extra codecs but they didn't help) but mplayer didn't disappoint me. The only problem is sometimes the audio and video aren't sync.
