A podcast aggregator for the Nokia N900

gPodder is a podcast receiver/catcher with a specialized UI that has been optimized for Maemo 5 and the N900. Podcasts are like short radio shows that you can download from the Internet and subscribe to like blogs or news feeds.

gPodder supports both audio and video podcasts equally, and is said to be one of the most usable podcast clients available.

Different versions for several platforms and devices exist. This is the Maemo 5-optimized version of gPodder.

Now gPodder is very good, it's fairly easy to find & download podcasts, and usability is quite nice. Thanks for making this on Maemo!

Fantastic app. Much better than a year ago. Just has small bug with wired magazine and esquire videos. Couldn't fix it thru y!pipes. but i've seen a beta @ extras-devel and I'm hoping for these improvements. Anyway it's essential for me now.Congrats!

Feature Request (don't see a better place to add this)

In gpodder under the "All" view of a podcast, I would like to see the option to delete undownloaded podcasts from the list.

I have a number of podcasts where I don't download the shows and as a result these episodes get left in t he list perpetually.

Also after importing an opml from iTunes I now have a back history of a large number of shows, some with many hundreds of podcasts I do not need to download as I have listened to them already. As with above, they are stuck in the list.

great app!

as a suggestion, maybe you could add batch operations for file management (like being able to mark several files to be (deleted/kept) at once... =)

A very good app. If you don't listen to any podcasts but are interested in ANYTHING then GET THIS.

DC to delete goto the podcast list and HOLD your finger/stylus down umtill a menu comes up then delete. there is another way to select any podcasts then delete but I can't remember how.

Thank you Tomas

Excelent app, does what it says on the tin and does it well. The only downside is that it seems to occasionally slow down my N900 when I run it - I'm not entirely sure why.

Since I couldn't find the feature request page for this app, I'll put a message in a bottle here. It would be nice if there was an option to read the .xml page in reverse order of podcasts since some sites list oldest podcasts first and some have 300 podcasts. Also, it would be nice to set how many podcasts could be pulled in from one site since most of the time, you don't need to see 200 podcasts in the list, only the most recent 2 or 3.

Forgive me, if this is the wring place top post this.

On my N900 gPodder and Panucci are godsends for managing my podcast subscriptions.

I have one issue that I have not see discussed and would love to know how others are dealing with this.

How should delete old podcasts? I can't see an option within EITHER application. Instead I still have to go in via 'File Manager'. This is clunky.

Fixing this would make this app combo 100% perfect.

Any ideas?

Are there plans to add network proxy support to gpodder? It currently does not respect the system wide proxy which i added to my wireless profile. And there is no way to tell it to connect through a proxy from the settings I filed a feature request here https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7241 Anyone affected should place vote for it

Love this app, much better than the s60 alternative, Video casts though can be a problem, as they wont play unless you download them, although I think that's a bug in maemo that has been found in other places as well.

Great for Podcasts... Vidiocasts, not so much. The "Search YouTube users" feature is superb and it is able to pull together current posted video by producers like Associated Press and Al Jazeera. This feature alone would make this the "go to" app for breaking news. Unfortunately, because of the limitations of media player as well as Mplayer, playing streams from the displayed links is a no go. Perhaps this problem could be solved by allowing a third party player like ZooTube the ability to handle these links. :)

Highly stable, handles simultaneously updating my podcasts (16) very well. One negative it slows down my 900 when I leave it up overnight.Just for the first one or two minutes, then it works fine.

It's a nice program. But it could be a bit better when it would be able to use Panucci as standard. For the rest I don't want the media player to index the podcasts but haven't been able to change the indexing properties of the media player (still a beginner with Linux). Good program though!

It's a cool application in its own right, but... what a joy when I discovered that I could use it in portrait mode. A lot more comfortable sometimes (not always ;) ...)

I agree it would be good to have a UI that reduces the need for taps... Waiting for more to come here, it's one of my classics on Maemo.

I'm using gPodder before every flight to download latest podcasts (currently subscribed to Monocle Weekly and 37signals).

The only improvement that comes to mind immediately is automatic downloads that would happen on the background. That'd mean I would be able to remove "fetch podcasts" from my before-trip checklist.
