FrontView - Turn your mobile phone into a document scanner
FrontView900 turns your N900 into a document scanner. Use the built-in camera to take snapshots of hand written notes, typed document, name card, etc. Then FrontView converts them into a flatted document image by de-skewing automatically.

I had the same problem while installing Frontview900 v0.1-1 like Pash G. But downloading the .deb file from http://repository.maemo.org/extras/pool/fremantle/non-free/frontview900_0.1-1_armel.deb and executing works fine for me.
I also would be very glad to have the possibility saving in a non-lossy format ;-)

It is a good idea to have an option to save in a non-lossy format!
For the memory problem , I will fix on next release.
Now that is a nice application for my phone!
May I suggest a few improvements? First, the "scanned" image is saved as JPEG. I don't know what compression settings are used, but non-lossy formats might be a better option if you want to convert the document to plain text using OCR.
Second, only the "native" DCIM directory is shown. It would be nice to show the "memory card" DCIM directory also, or have a setting to decide which one to use.

Hello, but there are only about maemo.org final applications? No extra or extra-devel-testing?

Are you using PR 1.2 firmware? I got another report with same problem, but I can see it from App Manager.
An alternative is to install the .deb file directly from website.
You may download the .deb from this link:
http://repository.maemo.org/extras/pool/fremantle/non-free/frontview900_0.1-1_armel.deb
Then run File Manager , open the the file , it will launch App Manager to install the software.

getting error "Unable to download 'frontview900'. Application package not found." when trying to install from maemo.org. And it doesn't even show up in the App manager...
Very, very usefull. And a very smooth UI. (In addition: Abbeyy screenshot reader can convert the scanned docs(images)to tekst)
