Navit is a car navigation system with routing engine. It's modular design is capable of using vector maps of various formats for routing and rendering of the displayed map. It's even possible to use multiple maps at a time. This is a very active project with an extensive thread at http://www.internettablettalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18093
Garmin maps are supported using libgarmin. Click To Install loads the current SVN version.

Really great app. Every day a new version. It runs (nearly) perfect.
This would be a nice app if it weren't so HUGE and unstable. It crashes frequently and when an update comes it will use up all the room in your root storage and brick your device.
Hi Willem, you can get the debian directory from my web site (http://tech.visser-scully.ca) in the Downloads section. The source code for NAvit comes from their SVN repository. And of course you need Scratchbox installed.
I would like to make a package of navit myself. Is there a source package available or a setup that works with the patch gerritv posted (#282) on the navit trac pages?

opengl doesn't work on the tablets, the one to use is 'internal' this isn't a tablet specific app, so some of the options are't applicable.
Great App!! Really. How can i help? I could make a nice configuration tool or.. with which several options in navit.xml and navitOSD.xml could be configured, so that its not required to edit the xml file by it self.

But i have also to say that i cannot use opengl.. navit crashes and displays gbd not fould... what is the mistake?
