When I turned on my brand new N810, it felt broken. It took me some seconds to realize why: I was used to Advanced Backlight on my old N800. (In fact, I was so used to it I no longer thought of it as a 3rd party add-on.)

This isn't only a useful and good app. It's absolutly necessary. Never run a tablet without it.

I couldn't see the point of this applet before and I uninstalled it. Then I realised that it replaced the Maemo sound and brightness icons (remove in control panel > panels) in the precious status bar. Excellent idea!

Being that I'm new to the tablet and linux I don't even know how to remove the default volume and backlight icons from the panel.

Help anyone?

Useful, stable app that should be on the device by default. Plus it works perfect with the LCARS (star trek) themes.

Excellent!

It is an example of clever ways to do more with less. More like this should follow.

Really useful applet.

I hope the success of Advanced Backlight make think to Nokia about how save space in the statusbar if they maintain it in Fremantle.

Excellent! Helps me keep my status bar on one line. This should be standard.

Hi there!

Really loving it, great work, guys, but unfortunately the "Settings now persist across reboots" change You mentioned for version 0.9 does not seem to work for me as far as the screen brightness is concerned. Volume keeps its setting just fine, but the brightness goes back to an about 60% level each time I start the device. Which, if all goes well, is just once a day, of course, but still.

Is it just me or have You already noticed this Yourselves (and are eventually already working on a fix)?

Again - thanks so much for all Your work (and the ingenious idea to begin with)!

@Uwe That's what previous versions have always done and that's what this version does still, we just offer the user the ability to override it (for whatever reason, it was requested). :)

@Fabrice This, unfortunately, is completely out of our control. It's part of dsme and Nokia doesn't offer the option to disable the progressive dimming and brightening.
