The webcam program Rocks on 2007 n800 .. But now that i upgraded to OS2008 it is no good and my cam looks so much better on 2008.. Please Give us a Fix for 2008 ... As i use my n800 to watch my kids in the other room . Great program i even have it install on my linux box...
Looks like it could be a useful app. I was able to install it directly from the .deb here: http://donn.dyndns.org/maemo/dists/bora/main/binary-armel/webcam-server_0.50-3_armel.deb
Since you said N810 I thought it might work in OS2008 on N800, but no such luck with default parameters or with a few altered parameters.
As soon as I browse to it the server starts spewing: get_cam_image(): len != img->bufsize, just letting you know
and I get nothing in the browser.
Sorry about the install woes, for the moment you will need to set your Application Manager to Red Pill Mode and find webcam-server under the "net" category in order to install. I haven't quite got the handle on this package stuff just yet...

I forgot to mention that you need osso-xterm to run this as it is command-line based.
