A very nice media player. And now that it's possible to play Oggs as well, even better. I like the way they've gone for a GUI design that's completely different to any other. This makes it a little counter-intuitive to start with, but it's easy to learn.
Just a few minor problems that stop it being five star for me:
It doesn't save its position in the playlist after re-starting.
It seems to lose contact with the sound device if something else (say the media player) uses it. So it's necessary to re-load Kagu to get it to play again.
It would be nice if it could load album cover artwork from the directory containing the files. At the moment it can load artwork from the Web, but if you have a collection of obscure music like mine, it guesses badly and loads very strange art.
Its volume control manipulates a different part of the mixer to the one manipulated by the sound settings applet. This makes it difficult to get the volume right in other applications after using Kagu.
Nice music player but very slow in the 770
Nice start, but it would be nice if I could play directly from a playlist without having to add the contents to the "Now Playing" list. If there's nothing in the NP list, I don't get the play button.
And because it's slow to respond, I ended up with several copies of each song in the NP playlist because I wasn't sure if the app was registering my finger presses.
great music player, kinetic interface, extra scroll bars, nice album art integration, playlist management: what more could you ask for?
This has become my go to music player replacing Canola and whenever I want to show some N800 iCandy to an iPhone user this is a very impressive app. Works great.
My favourite music player, kinetic scrolling, finger friendly, ... !
I like it a lot, but needs to be somehow polished visually. I gave some suggestions on the ITT thread.
Finger Friendly Apps are the way forward, love it! :D
I love it.It's my main media player. The new release is wonderful!
I was happy with the previous release of Kagu but still looking for another player. After the 1.0.8 release, though, I'm going to be using nothing else. This is becoming a great player. The screenshots on this page really need updated, since the new screens look fantastic. The only thing missing right now is a donations button on the Kagu homepage!
Impressive improvement with the 1.0.8 upgrade.
Everything works perfectly now!
My favorite player (Nokia n800 user).
Playback is excellent! I almost never experience annoying hiccups, even if I put the player in the background and continue with e.g. browsing the Internet.
The new playlist based GUI takes some getting used to but I like it already.
In the kagu-scanner.py source file I had to increas the maximum search depth from 6 to 100 to make it find all my media files (have a deeply nested directory structure). Any reason for the limitation to such a shallow depth (6)?
This player is a very interesting emerging player but to place it ahead of such greats as Canola, it'd be nice to have two features: bookmarking (resume) within songs, and seeking. I use it primarily for podcasts and it's frustrating not being able to seek (or pick up at the last point) in a podcast.
I love it! The kinetic scrolling is awesome. I wish it would crossfade between songs, though.
Works well, layout was very nice. But.. on my n800 it couldn't display all of my mp3's. I did detect them, I saw it detecting them. But for reasons unknown it wouldn't display them as an available mp3 to play.
