Time Workshop - highly customizable timers.
This is an utility to create custom watches and timers. Only stopwatch and countdown timer realized at this time, but a whole lot of features is on the way. Current features (v0.3.2): * Any sound file supported by the system can be used as timer alarm. * The time display precision can be changed from hours to milliseconds. * Countdown timer can be set up to 24 hours. Stopwatch's limit is much further then the computer's. * Preset buttons: some or all settings can be saved to quick buttons and used by a single click (or tap). * Special button for quick access to some timer settings. * Marks list shows saved stopwatch times and time elapsed from the previous mark with editable comment. * The marks can be saved to a file (CSV, HTML or XML). * Extra layouts can be selected in the settings dialog. * Maemo version pauses Media player on alarm and resumes the playback after it. * Maemo version can disable screensaver when the timer is active. * In desktop version timer window can be transparent and stay on top of other windows. * For advanced users: timer layout and style can be defined in a special file.

Great program. I've started using it for keeping track of time when shooting air pistol and given the following features below it would be a great shooting timer (let me know if you need more information should you care to implement them):
Keep backlight on at countdown (regardless of other settings).
Mark by sound (a bullet hit); see for example http://sourceforge.net/projects/shottimer/).
Warning at half time, 1/4 time, ten minutes left et c (to let the user know how much time is left).
Two timers at same time (in an air pistol competition men get 1 h 45 min and 60 shots, 75 seconds/shoot). Possibility to see a 75 sec timer at the same time as the overall timer. This time should be reset for each mark and start over automatically.
Stop timer at mark # n (that is, 60).
It would be truly great if you could add any of the features above. Let me know if you need any help.
This is a great, full-featured app that does it's job well. My only concern is: Starting a count-down that isn't one of the presets, requires at least 5 taps + the setting of the actual countdown time: It's in the menu(1), under Settings(2), ...(3), done(4), done(5), start(6). It would be helpful to have a "Custom Countdown" button on the main screen for quickly defining a non-preset countdown time. Other than that, it does it's job well. I like the red "count-up" after the count-down is finished, allowing me to see just how much overtime has been used.
The workshop timer works as stated, but I would like to see the following "improvements". - Set multiple timers. - Able to save timers. For instance I use the 10 minute timer alot and it would be nice if I could just select that timer from a list of saved timers to use. Quite useful for cooking multiple dishes which all have a different cooking time. - Pre-listen the selected timer sound.
Preset buttons and later features are from version 0.3.0. When I've downloaded new alpha to extras-devel it's description have appeared here. I changed it to reflect version 0.2.1 twice, but it reappears again.
I'll add this soon. I just didn't know that when I promote application to extras it gets this page automatically. This version is very simple but I hope this app will have a great future. BTW you can see screenshots of the next release at project's page http://timeshop.garage.maemo.org.
This sounds like a very interesting app. Some screen shots could help.
