It's a great app. However it would be better for me if the "Keep display on" option could be activated just when clicking on the icon since the icon open a menu with only that option and "Open display settings" option that anyone could access in the Settings..

One more vote here to have this app as a standard.

For me, it is particularly useful the "Keep display on" option. I have my phone set up to block itself, but if I need it on for a while, let's say I'm looking at it to watch a timer (like Tickstill) I don't want to change my settings just for that.

Anyone help with why this won't install. It downloads as simple-brightness-applet.install, but PC Suite doesn't want to know it. I got my N900 yesterday, so be kind, please.

Personally, I'd like another step between 4 and 5. I see that 4 is "64" and 5 is "255" which is a very big step and there are times that I'd really like to have a 4.5 step.

Ian, if you had bothered to read the announcements on maemo.org's front page, you would know that the repositories are down.

Does the N900 support the 12 or 16 levels of brightness of N8x0? If so, it would be nice see finer control.

The applet does exactly what it claims. Useful if you frequently change brightness manually.
