This allowed me to play certain formats that were unplayable before - however without the GPU support, so the playback was choppy even at low bitrates. Recoding the material in H.264 baseline or MPEG4 did the trick, but it defeats the purpose of having these codecs. Is it possible to have the GPU supported playback when using these codecs?
Can't play MPEG2 Transport Streams recorded on my Sat receiver via UPnP in Canola.
I retested the codecs on my machine, and I must have mistaken an internet connection problem for the problem that I thought I had with the added codecs. Everything works perfectly. Sorry for speaking up too quickly.
BTW, this works great with zoutube's download feature. It lets you view saved youtube clips in the media player.
Now i just need to find out how to have media player recognize flv's so I don't have to use the file manager to play them.
Andrew, you don't need to manually install any dependencies, they are pulled automatically, otherwise there would be no point in having this packages, would there.
You need to keep in mind that there is no support for H.264 Main or High profiles and those are used for Matroska (MKV) containers usually. Matroska support is there (try to create an MKV file using XviD video and MP3 audio, it does play back), the decoders for most often used video formats in this container are not there. Hopefully "yet".
I apologize for being ignorant, but what is the process of making this work? I installed all the "dependent" deb files in addition to installing this. However, I still can't view any mkv files within the media player. I've tried multiple files as well. Thanks for your help in advance.
Works for me! I havent's encountered the bug reported by Sterling w, i can play internet radio through my Media Player well. Nice job
I don't know if this is the correct place to post this or not, but this set of codecs breaks the media player's internet radio stations. I appreciate the work that was put into writing support for MKV's and hope that this project matures
how can i play flv? try file manager, browser and media player, but didn't recognize .flv
