Ad blocking plugin for Maemo Browser

Port of AdBlock Plus v1.0.2 for the Maemo Browser with the default EasyList blocklist. Made possible by Alan Bruce (qole) who discovered that running AdBlock Plus was possible with the Maemo Browser. Will require a reboot or two after installation before it will work.

Only works with copying pattern.ini (copied with over BT to device, used terminal to move it to the right dir, started browser and worked)...

But beside of the pattern.ini-trick it works perfect, the same as on a laptop/desktop.

As instructed by Michael, Simply editing ~/.mozilla/microb/prefs.js and changing "extensions.adblockplus.enabled" to true works fine. verified one site. Youtube still shows advertisements, may be it is not included in default pattern matc patterns.ini.

It does not work after installation and for this reason it should not be available in maemo extras repository at the moment. See also: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=36716

So does Ad Block just automatically run when I open the default or downloaded beta Firefox browser? I've restarted the phone twice, and it's not showing in the more section of the phone or desktop

It works, but here's what you have to do to get it working.

1) Install adblock and openssh from the app manager.

2) SFTP into your phone and copy patterns.ini from a working PC to your phone (~/.mozilla/microb/adblockplus/patterns.ini)

3) Edit the ~/.mozilla/microb/prefs.js file and set "extensions.adblockplus.enabled" to true and add {d10d0bf8-f5b5-c8b4-a8b2-2b9879e08c5d}:1.0.2, to "extensions.enabledItems".

4) Issue "killall browser browserd" from an Xterminal.

5) Start browsing! Ad free!

You can't say that I gave up trying - restoring original settings made it work. I mean ads are gone, and on YouTube it's 66% sure that I try to filter video intead of switching to full screen ;) Reboot didn't work for me.

It works. If you want to add filters, just install Firefox and do what the other person below said. It's not like it's that hard, or you have to pay for it.

Also, it comes with the default set of filters that do work just fine.

It didn't work at all, I was unable to add filters. On my PC I use Chrome, others use IE, Safari, so copying an .ini file is NOT an option.

I gave 1 star. Keep working, please!

I'm a huge AdBlock Plus fan! If you already use this on desktop Firefox just copy your existing preferences.ini across! No need to configure all your custom filters again!

e.g. ~/.mozilla/firefox/vkuuxfit.default/adblockplus
