Desktop activity manager
Desktop activity manager (actman) is a status menu applet that allows the user to have multiple activities (a'la KDE's plasma). An activity is the set of all desktop widgets, bookmarks and icons along with the background.
For example, it is possible to have an activity named "car" where the desktop is customized to be easily accessible while driving without having many icons. Then another activity named "games" to include shortcuts to games. Then another activity named "clean" without any widgets on the desktop in order to conserve battery.
Desktop activity manager comes along with a command-line tool (/usr/bin/activity) that can be used by other applications, scripts or automations in order to handle desktop activities.

I believe its a but unless i am imagining things:
After installing the App when i go to "Add Shortcut" i got 2 of contacts 2 of Clock 2 of Conversations 2 of phone and some other *2 (media player) might missed something.. now i think it wasn't like that before was it?
and if anyone got any idea how to fix it.. i mean i know its a minor bug and before it happened i did want 2 of contacts to place on 2 desktops but now when i do got *2 of stuff i dont want it anymore ;)

Very useful; especially if you're the one-desktop type.
It would be nicer if it would apply changes faster (if possible).
great app! Thank you for sharing.
Interesting application. I like it :) Its like to have additional desktops with different widgets. Great. p.s If you have time you can do this: 1. I don't know whether you can improve performance, but it will be better. 2. You can do widget that shows which is the current profile and the other profiles that are defined.(or may be the first three only, if there are 100 profiles it would be impossible to show all)
Cool!
Stefane zwgrafises pali! What a great app. Thanks a million for all the hard work!
You're right. I'll add instructions on a newer version. Until then, please refer to the appropriate t.m.o. thread here: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=47373
In general you create "activities" and you switch between them. An activity is the set of your desktop shortcuts, bookmarks and widgets. So you can have different sets of the above and switch between them.
this seems like a good app..i just don't know how to use it ...any tips please for those that are new to all this???
The settings are stored in user's home directory which will survive a reflash of the rootfs. There is no reason to extend this with support of reflashing the internal MMC (which includes the home directory) since many settings are also stored there (including contacts) and they will be wiped out. However, the reflashing of the rootfs is not guaranteed to work because some widgets may be missing after a reflash. In any case, taking a backup of /home/user/.activity directory (and later restoring that) will do the trick.
Very useful application! Thanks! The only thing i could think that is missing is the ability to export and import the desktop setup, so you can transfer it in after a reflash.
