This is a really good package handler and makes doing apt-get in the terminal pretty redundant.
Because FAM is a substitute for apt-get, it's a much easier way to get libraries and dependencies (select 'All ADVANCED' when pressing the 'C' button).
Also, the method for activating/de-activating repositories is more intuitive than that of the stock Hildon AM i.e. tick for on, un-tick for off.
There are some downsides that I have noticed: - If a package has its new version in Ovi an error is generated. e.g. BlessN900 0.49-3 to 0.49-4 - If dependencies are in repositories that are disabled or not installed, the missing items are not flagged up before installation starts. - There is no keyboard method (that I have found) to quickly move between fields when editing each repository's details.
A useful extension would be for the installer to create an exportable log of where software installs i.e. all the directories and conf files it spiders into.
Brilliant! brilliant i say...for some reason this nokias app installer/uninstaller....was too slooow.
Please nfsu installer or preenv

hi thanks alot
Thank you very much for this!
awesome app. must have. just don't turn on that date caching or something. it will slow it down a lot.
Very good alternative to hilldon-application-manger. As said in other comments the ability to choose more than one application to install/remove is good, plus at the speed.
Recommend... for everyone
outclasses the default one
only needs an arrow to state that there is caption menu
Thanx for the upload great job..
Changes the way how you browse, install and remove pkgs. A real time saver! A must.
Excellent! Expect.. it should check the size of dependency packages too. I f*cked up my apt-get yesterday with fapman, coz it hasn't warned me about low free space. Anyway, lot faster smoother... good work
Overall superior to the built-in Application Manager, but I would say sharing the sources list with it would be a big plus, as well as the possibility to set this one as the default.
I agree with everyone's comments. Excellent work here.
Thank you very much for a great app!
The last thing missing: stealing upgrade status from AppManager
Ironic that this is downloaded by the program that it replaces. This is not only faster, it adds great searching facilities. If you got a N900, you sure want to waste a little space for this, excellent job!
Excellent application. It's really fast. Thanks.
Great app, much better than the Application Manager!
Excellent application and fast, far better than the default manager, also clear and easy to use - thanks for the great work!
Very useful app, much better than default app manager.
Thousand times better than the built-in application manager.
If you want to disable automatic updates from the official package manager, and avoid slowdowns on your system, you can check this thread: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?p=788238#post788238
nice app! thanks! =) i wasnt able to install movieschedule from extras repository though. i got an error about dependencies that couldnt be resolved. however, the installation went smoothly with the default application manager...
Very very good application instead of slow application manager
Must have app.
Thanks
The ability to install multiple applications at one go saves a lot of time. Its a great alternative to the default Application Manager, and the command-line! Thanks!
