Implement portrait mode in Maps

Posted on 2009-09-02 15:22 UTC by Marat Fayzullin. Status: In development, milestone: Harmattan, Categories: Location & Navigation.

Using Fremantle Maps in portrait mode is important for pedestrian navigation. The user would carry the device in his pocket, taking it out with one hand to quickly glance at the map. Portrait orientation gives following advantages:

1. No need to rotate the device, stored vertically in ones pocket.

2. Possible to hold and use the device with one hand, like Nokia's Symbian phones.

Solution #1: Portrait Mode for Maps

Posted on 2009-09-22 11:17 UTC by dan a.

Implement Portrait mode for Maps. This would simple be a rotation from landscape to portrait, there shouldn't be much rework except for the GUI interface.

This will solve many car holders, and allows for either landscape or portrait mode in maps.
