I often find myself locking the screen while a web page is loading just to save a little bit of battery power. So I thought of minimizing screen brightness when there's nothing really important on the display right on the start of every action that's supposedly will take at least several seconds and returning to a previous brightness on any user input or at the end of the action. Ability to rearrange windows in matchbox

I need it the most after reopening some file or address. In such case I became comfort with specific window order because of using it for some time and when it changes.. That's uncomfortable and counter-productive.

Also it would be great to group windows by type or filter them.

For example at the moment I'm testing pair of python scripts in PyGTKEditor: server-side and client-side.

And when I start server there is about 1 second of delay before terminal window appears.

In that second I'm trying to switch to next window with client and "BAM", server-side is full-screen and I have to press dashboard button again and again.

Dashboard is for overviewing all windows and must not be interrupted.

OVI Suite over IP

We need a way of conecting the N900 to the OVI Suite program via network (even internet if you got the IP)

For security reasons, it might be a good idea to ask for a password on both sides when conecting (encrypt any communication, and of course do not send plain text passwords over the network), and make it so the receiving end has to confirm before allowing the conection to be established.

Location aware FM transmitter power setting control panel

It would have a slider for the wattage, a checkbox for checking GPS for location and getting the maximum wataage permited by local legislation, a number box for how often check the location, a checkbox for always using the maximum power allowed for the region, a map location picker that is avaiable when not using GPS for choosing location (if you pickt he middle of the ocean where no legislation about maximum power allowed is present, you can use the transmitter up to the maximum power the hardware canhandle)

Perhaps also include a database of airports so if your location is too close to an airport the maximum transmision power is reduced to comply. Also perhaps an option check for altitude and if far enough from the ground to not be on an airplane cut down the maximum allowed to whatever is the safe limit for use on airplanes (even if it's zerio, no transmission power at all)

Also it would be nice to have a button to download an updated database of power restricitons per regions (and the airport database too)

Phone in Vertical mode

It should be able, to use the whole phone in vertical mode not only for calls. It should be able to turn the phone to vertical also in the menu.

Alarm based on destination time not home time.

I travel quite a bit between time zones.

I want to be able to set an alarm based on my destination time, rather than my home time. With the current set up I found that I could not without set an alarm for my destination time zone without changing the local clock.

Maemo 5 OS: Way of storing current weather information

Hi, there is numerous weather applications out there. And many users use such applications for widgets on desktop etc. But what if there was a way to store and retrieve the current weather information from the maemo OS ?

This could be useful for a number of application developers that don't want to implement weather information downloading, but could still have great use for the current weather information in their applications.

If a user is already downloading weather information, why don't share it with the device and let it become weather aware?

noticed that the Outlook notes do not sync with the Notes application on the N900. the Outlook notes are like sticky notes or post its where i store trivia that I need.

can this be addressed?
