Currently, to get to Apps on the 2nd screen of the Application Menu, you first need to press the Application Menu icon on the top left of your desktop and then hit the "More" icon on the bottom right of the first screen in the Apps Menu.

It might only be two clicks, but it seems hugely unnecessary to have to click in one corner of the screen and then move to click in the other corner of the screen to bring up the list of apps you have installed.

"Odd" Recurrences for calendar application

Many people have appointments which aren't on a weekly or monthly "repeat order", but occur on some more "odd" dates like "every second wednesday" (bi-weekly), "every second month" (bi-monthly) or even on "every second monday of the month". At the moment the calendar app only supports daily, weekly, monthly and yearly recurrences of events, which isn't advanced enough for most people's scheduling. This brainstorm tries to address bugs 6505, 5954 and 5955.

The calendar on the N900 is a really neat app, but lets make it shine!

Delivering Java SE to Fremantle

The purpose of this proposal is to assess the demand and determine the best way to deliver a Java SE - runtime for Fremantle / Maemo 5.

Java SE is the runtime intended for Desktop systems, but implementations for Mobile Devices do exist. The possible target audience for a Java SE runtime on Fremantle is considerably smaller than for a Java ME implementation, but many business applications still provide Java interfaces for legacy compatibility. Providing the possibility to run these business applications might lower the barrier for corporations to consider using Maemo 5 in a corporate environment.

Ideally, this brainstorm proposal results in a Java SE Package available in the Fremantle-Repositories for easy distribution through the Maemo 5 App Manager.

The thread that sparked this proposal:
Java for Maemo 5

This is not supposed to be yet another "Nokia should do it" proposal - if you want an implementation, please vote not only for the "Nokia-option", but place a 2nd vote on your favourite community solution so we will know where to invest our time first, should Nokia really decide not to buy an official License.

Google calendar is a very popular calendar service and I think it
should be supported on the Calendar application for better and
complete user experience.

It seems that you can sync google calendar using Mail for
Exchange, but this support is limited. The limited support of
Google calendars in MfE will only allow synchronizing the first
calendar in your google calendars. Consider how limiting this is
in this example:

Let's say you have two calendars, a personal calendar and a
business calendar. With existing support, you can only
synchronize personal calendar and not the business calendar.

It makes the transparent syncing of Android very attractive in
comparison.

3 solutions for this brainstorm.

Improve the task management support to Calendar

The task support included on the Calendar is pretty basic and I think is not very useful IMHO because I miss the following options:

1) I can't order the tasks, they are shown in the order as they were written. I'd like to think only once about the better order for accomplising the tasks, usually at the early hours of the day, and not every time I check the list of pending tasks. I'd like to arrange my To-Do list with some simple finger movements :)

2) I'd like to add tasks on the Agenda, in order to check events and notes that could interfere with the task. So that, I think that adding "New task" (and "New note" to the Agenda makes sense.

3) Sometimes a task precises to be done at certain particular time, and I miss the possibility of adding the start and finish times and having the alarm functionality for not missing it, like I can do with events.

4) If I don't accomplish a task, I'd like to have an easy way to reassign to another date/time. Instead of deleting the task from the previous position on the calendar I'd like to be marked as deferred so I could follow the new assigned date/time.

5) To have a pool of tasks without date assigned, and be able to assign when I have time for thinking the best date/time to do it.

7 solutions for this brainstorm.
