Is it possible to use the IR port on the N900 for as an infrared thermometer?

It would be nice to be able to record video automatically when something moves in the secure area of the screen. Here is some functions which would be nice to have:

1. Start recording video automatically when anything moves on the screen

2. Possibility to limit secure area, like if door opens --> start recording

3. Txt/email message when recording started

4. Possibility to stream recorded video to web??

5. Alarm sound when recording starts

For example at the moment I'm testing pair of python scripts in PyGTKEditor: server-side and client-side.

And when I start server there is about 1 second of delay before terminal window appears.

In that second I'm trying to switch to next window with client and "BAM", server-side is full-screen and I have to press dashboard button again and again.

Dashboard is for overviewing all windows and must not be interrupted.

When you're using the device with external monitor, you are probably doing things like watching a movie or browsing the net through wifi or 3G network, which drain the battery.

It would be great to be able to plug the device to the monitor, do what ever you want, and leave with a fully charged battery.

Just to be clear - this is a hardware proposal to future devices.

When the device is connected to a PC via the micro-usb cable, we can chose the connection mode-PC Suite/Mass Storage.

But if we want to change the mode after sometime, the cable has to be removed and reconnected.
