Next/Previous track on Player with Volume Buttons (Long press)

Posted on 2010-05-19 21:15 UTC by Miguel Teigell de Agustin. Status: Waiting, Categories: Media.

Well, the title is quite self-explanatory. It would be awesome to have the previous and next track functions implemented by the volume buttons long press.

No need to go unlock the N900 press the software button and then lock again

Allow a single contact on the desktop more than once.

Posted on 2010-05-21 19:05 UTC by Robin Powell. Status: Under consideration, Categories: Desktop.

To help if my phone is lost, I have a "PHONE OWNER" contact.  I want to place a link to this contact on each desktop, but I can't because each contact can be placed on the desktops only once, so I had to make 4 such contacts, which is really annoying.

Please fix.

Desktop grid to align icons

Posted on 2010-05-23 17:30 UTC by Stéphane Caron. Status: Waiting, Categories: Desktop.

As an N900 user, I really miss a way to get icons aligned on my desktop, for both shortcuts and contacts. Some kind of grid would be fine, or a behavior like "if the icon is almost aligned with an edge of another existing icon, then it gets exactly aligned".

Unified communications

Posted on 2010-05-26 21:54 UTC by Jamie Thompson. Status: Waiting, Categories: User Experience.

Maemo seems to be going for a fully-unified communications concept, and this is great, but the closer it gets to this goal, the more the remaining omissions stand out.

  • Emails should be merged with conversations, as emails are conceptually very similar to SMS messages. The solution(s) should be able to link emails to the contacts with that email address assigned to them.
  • Call logs should be displayed in this view as well, and...
  • ...and all calls should be recordable, both the traditional audio-only variety as well as video calls.
  • ...and finally, as brainstormed elsewhere, SMS message should be syncable to external (IMAP?) folders, and MMS messages should be both included in this unified display and syncable as per SMS.

Smoother Fade In for Alarm Sound

Currently it sounds too harsh, each rise follows with crackles. For alarm it is important that volume fades in very gently.
