Enabling fast access to 2nd screen of Apps in Apps Menu

Posted on 2009-12-15 13:39 UTC by Philip Dean. Status: Under consideration, Categories: Desktop, User Experience.

Currently, to get to Apps on the 2nd screen of the Application Menu, you first need to press the Application Menu icon on the top left of your desktop and then hit the "More" icon on the bottom right of the first screen in the Apps Menu.

It might only be two clicks, but it seems hugely unnecessary to have to click in one corner of the screen and then move to click in the other corner of the screen to bring up the list of apps you have installed.

"Odd" Recurrences for calendar application

Posted on 2009-12-07 11:06 UTC by Ralph Angenendt. Status: Under consideration, Categories: Desktop.

Many people have appointments which aren't on a weekly or monthly "repeat order", but occur on some more "odd" dates like "every second wednesday" (bi-weekly), "every second month" (bi-monthly) or even on "every second monday of the month". At the moment the calendar app only supports daily, weekly, monthly and yearly recurrences of events, which isn't advanced enough for most people's scheduling. This brainstorm tries to address bugs 6505, 5954 and 5955.

The calendar on the N900 is a really neat  app, but lets make it shine!

Add universal support for ASR (automatic screen rotation) throughout the UI

Posted on 2009-09-24 21:42 UTC by Marcus McFann. Status: In development, milestone: Harmattan, Categories: Desktop, User Experience, System, Devices, Other.

It would be nice if the N900's UI rotated no matter what app you used. While third party apps can stipulate a specific mode such as portrait or landscape, the UI should support it natively in all parts of the UI.

The N97 is a perfect example of a similarly configure device that supports ASR and can be used as a case study.

Brainstorm should be a karma source

Brainstorm, as a gathering place for ideas and solutions, could be an excellent source for community karma. List your scoring proposals below. How much would you give for an idea ? And for a solution ? Thumbs up ? Thumbs down ?

Another way to lock/unlock the device

Since people are increasingly using their mobile devices as personal computers, using email, storing corporate and confidential data, the security of these information became a high priority requirement.
