Sleep Timer for N900

Posted on 2010-01-03 17:26 UTC by Christian Straetz. Status: Under consideration, Categories: Media, System, Devices.

Hi Guys,

I really hope I get this right because it's my first "brainstorm" here. I used the Search-Function but couldn't find a brainstorm already proposing my idea:

What I really would appreciate for my N900 Phone is a Sleep Timer "shutting down" the phone after a certain time.

I have to admit I have no clue how difficult this would be it's just so annoying using the phone and those brilliant onboard speakers at night with the problem that i have a N900 with empty battery the next morning.

Time interval DSLR signals

Posted on 2010-01-12 12:39 UTC by Vinay Gupta. Status: Under consideration, Categories: Utilities, Devices.

This idea is just an extension of an existing app by twaelti - Shutter. (http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=39693&page=2)

This extension (or new app) would provide an user interface to set interval and number of shots to be taken at each interval. Some examples below:

1. 2 shots to be taken after 3 minutes have elapsed since the last shot.

2. 1 shot to be taken after 1 hour has elaspsed since the last shot.

This would just replace the need of expensive time interval kits for many cameras and also provide interval photography options to camera without inbuilt options ( the D300 has interval photography options but not the D90).

If you look at practicality, it would be a stretch as it would require the N900 to be in line of sight of the camera at all times. But still its an idea.

I raised this as a wishlist bug, but have been prodded to move it here.

Smart Dock

The Motorola Droid has a "smart dock" that will put the phone into an alarm clock mode, as well as a car dock that will automatically launch the navagator application. It might be possible to do something similar with a Maemo device using the micro USB port.

Placement of the LED Notification indicator.

Posted on 2009-09-24 02:41 UTC by vamsi kanumuri. Status: Under consideration, Categories: Devices.

The LED notification indicator on the n900 is not placed on the edge of the device. As a result i assume i would miss the notifications if the n900 was placed above my eye level. For example if i was sitting on my couch and the n900 was placed on the dining table at a distance away from the couch and if the couch and the dining table are of the same level, i cannot see the LED light glowing because of the placement of the LED indicator. Consider the same scenario in the n810, since the LED indicator is placed towrads the edge of the device, i can see the LED indicator even if i am at a lower level in comparision to the device.
