call encryption

Posted on 2010-01-24 21:37 UTC by dan godfather. Status: Waiting, Categories: System.

hi,

i know it isn't allowed to encrypt our phonecalls in a lot of countries, but a app for that would be nice. how would you implement it?

although you have to know, who can receive encrypted calls.

regards

dan

Encryption for the user data

Posted on 2010-01-18 08:16 UTC by Sampo Savola. Status: Waiting, Categories: System.

Lots of corporate users would like to use Maemo 5/N900 instead of Nokia E-series devices but the biggest obstacle for them is the lack of data encryption support. This is important if the device got lost or stolen and we want to keep the confidential corporate information at safe.

Call Rejector- Developers Needed

Posted on 2010-01-11 23:01 UTC by Robert Hall. Status: Waiting, Categories: Desktop, Utilities, System, Programming.

Call Rejector
a simple call rejector application which rejects calls listed by the user.
1. allow list - when active only calls from the listed numbers will be allowed.
2. reject list - all calls are allowed EXCEPT the ones listed in "reject list"
3. auto reject unknown numbers - numbers not stored in the users contacts are auto rejected. (option to turn this feature off)
4. private numbers - private numbers are auto rejected (option to turn this feature off)

the application will be similar/a replica of HandyBlacklist for the S60 platform.

Future Improvements - SMS/MMS rejection following the same examples/options as above.

Im not a developer but would be keen on going through the process to help with develpment.

Adding Offline profiles

Posted on 2009-12-19 17:48 UTC by David Hautbois. Status: Waiting, Categories: System.

the N900 has multiple connectivity :

  • GSM
  • Wifi
  • Bluetooth
  • ...

The Offline disable all these connectivity.

If I want to received GSM calls, I have keep the device Online.

So wifi connectivity is activated and the devices automaticaly connects to known access points.

To spare the battery, it would interesting to select what to disable in the Offline mode.

So, all connectivity could be disabled except the GSM.

Need a app to monitor rootfs consumption

Posted on 2009-12-10 05:13 UTC by Tusar Nayak. Status: Waiting, Categories: System.

My apologies if this idea has been suggested before.

Its a fact that we can't stop end user to install non-OPTfied packages, which results into info banner 'Not enough memory in target location' after installing few of non-OPTfied applications. So, for the benefit of user, can we make an application which will inform user about the rootfs usage by different 3rd party applications and suggestions to remove those overburdened applications.

I too technically challenged, might have understood above stuff wrongly. please excuse.
