Enhance caller identification and call log

Posted on 2010-04-28 15:00 UTC by Christopher Milan. Status: Waiting, Categories: User Experience.

I would like to suggest some changes to both the caller identification screen when receiving an incoming call and also to the call log.

PTT Function

Posted on 2010-04-14 02:50 UTC by skjf kjdfsh. Status: Waiting, Categories: User Experience.

The Nokia N900 should have a PTT function to communicate with other Nokia N900s with the PTT function and other devices with the PTT function.

PTT stands for P.ush T.o T.alk. It works similar to a walkie-talkie.

Location based reminders

Posted on 2010-04-09 05:21 UTC by Reto Bachmann. Status: Waiting, Categories: Location & Navigation, Utilities, User Experience.

I would like to bind alarms/reminders to a geo location rather than (just) to a time. I should be able to have a set of spots I visit regularly and be able to set an alarm that goes off the next time I'm near a selected spot. Also I should be able to set an alarm that goes off the next time I'm back at the curent location.

Usage scenarios:

  • Remind me to buy a tooth brush next time at the supermarket
  • Remind me to take my bicycle when I'm back here

Alarm based on destination time not home time.

Posted on 2010-03-30 08:21 UTC by K B. Status: Waiting, Categories: Utilities, User Experience, System.

I travel quite a bit between time zones.

I want to be able to set an alarm based on my destination time, rather than my home time. With the current set up I found that I could not without set an alarm for my destination time zone without changing the local clock.

Multiple selections and actions in list views

Posted on 2010-03-27 10:58 UTC by Jens Wiik. Status: Waiting, Categories: User Experience.

The List example in Qt Widget Gallery supports multiple selection, but the user needs to separately activate it from the menu.  This is not practical, and users need to know to look for it.

I think multiple selection should be available constantly, but having checkboxes next to each row would be ugly, so I propose a background-colored area instead.  See the attachment.

Furthermore, the multiple selection mechanism could be extended to offer quick access to secondary actions.  The current popup menu is uncomfortable.  When a "checkbox" is activated, a toolbar could replace the top row of the list view.  In my example, obvious buttons would be select all, select none, add to playlist, add to current playlist, delete.

The area outside the checkbox area would still function as it does now - single click to primary action.
