Zoom in/out

The zoom in/out in the N900 is achieved in different ways. Hardware keys or rotational zoom in/out (a la browser). This is due to the missing multitouch support in Fremantle.

Even though it gives you fine grained control on the zoom in/out, I quite don't like it as I don't feel it's "natural".

Add support for Google calendar

Google calendar is a very popular calendar service and I think it
should be supported on the Calendar application for better and
complete user experience.

It seems that you can sync google calendar using Mail for
Exchange, but this support is limited. The limited support of
Google calendars in MfE will only allow synchronizing the first
calendar in your google calendars. Consider how limiting this is
in this example:

Let's say you have two calendars, a personal calendar and a
business calendar. With existing support, you can only
synchronize personal calendar and not the business calendar.

It makes the transparent syncing of Android very attractive in
 comparison.

Getting average/mainstream user involved in product improvement

Posted on 2009-10-22 01:59 UTC by Emre CAN. Status: Under consideration, Categories: User Experience.

I don't know if it's already implemented this way or not, so sorry for being a duplicate if it is.

As far as I see, "Getting involved in product improvement" is mostly done actively by some enthusiasts and I think it would be great to get average/mainstream user involved in improving user experience with help from the OS & within the OS.

I also think that this would improve users' overall experience greatly about the product since average/mainstream user would like to see being taken care of / listened to when they need it.

Long-Press for numbers and symbols

Posted on 2009-10-27 17:30 UTC by Mark Guim. Status: Under consideration, Categories: User Experience.

On other Nokia devices with Qwerty, long-press gives users access to numbers and symbols. This exists Nokia E71, E75, and the Nokia N97's latest firmware.

I suggest having this feature on the Nokia N900 too.
