Change UI for incoming call in portrait mode [split Answer and Reject buttons]

Posted on 2010-01-19 20:29 UTC by ZeeD bI. Status: Under consideration, Categories: Desktop, User Experience.

This Brainstorm is merged with an other Brainstorm: http://maemo.org/community/brainstorm/view/actions_when_device_is_locked_and_a_event_like_aleart-alarm_or_call_happens/

Please add your solutions there.

Original text of brainstorm:

Some users of n900 have a problem pressing Reject button instead of Answer. Especially when they operate by one hand or in gloves.

In landscape mode everithing is ok, both buttons are split vertically. In portrait mode those buttons are split horizontally so many people accidentally press Reject button.

May be Nokia can split/rearrange Answer and Reject buttons as a small improvement for n900 UI because Nokia do not want to add SWIPE option for incoming events on locked phone.

Check emails only in home GPRS

Posted on 2011-02-10 05:02 UTC by Thomas Maass. Status: Waiting, Categories: Internet & Networking.

Hi! It would be nice, if the automatic email check could be set, only to check, if I'm in my home GPRS. I had this option in Symbian OS. This avoids to fall into roaming, when automatic check is enabled.

Citrix client

Posted on 2010-04-08 09:25 UTC by David Martel. Status: Under consideration, Categories: Office.

Citrix is a way of remotely connecting into your work and being able to run applications as if you were in the office.  A Citrix client would be a great enhancement for business use of the N900, the high res screen and keyboard make it an ideal mobile client device.

There are currently several mobile clients for other devices, and there has been reports in the forum that the arm build is installable, but it is not really usable.  Unfortunately I believe it is closed source, so it is difficult for the community to find a solution without help.

Clipboard sharing over bluetooth

Posted on 2010-03-24 13:01 UTC by Mardeg. Status: Waiting, Categories: Utilities.

1. User A: Copy text or image to clipboard from any app.
2. User A: Send clipboard over bluetooth to User B who gets a prompt to allow his clipboard to be overwritten with that of User A.
3. User B: Paste clipboard contents into any app.

The idea is to automate everything else to make this a very rapidfire way of sharing.

I just realised this is really just 2 steps for each user, so let's show it that way:

User A

- Step 1: Copy content

- Step 2: Run app to select receiver

User B

- Step 1: Confirm overwrite of clipboard

- Step 2: Paste content

Command line applications and Extras

Posted on 2009-12-08 15:54 UTC by Valério Valério. Status: Under consideration, Categories: maemo.org.

One of the topics of the last community meeting about Extras QA was if command line applications (CLI) should be available for regular users through the application manager or not. We can't reach a consensus, and it seems to generate very contradictory opinions inside our community.

We're talking about apps that doesn't have a UI nor place a icon in the desktop, nor are simple enables that display a message during/after installation.

Please note that this is not about ban some applications, is about the way of get some specific applications.
