SkypeOut costs representation

Posted on 2009-10-19 10:58 UTC by Yevgen Antymyrov. Status: Under consideration, Categories: Internet & Networking.

Since now we have in N900 this beautiful contact list with the ability
to choose between mobile operator vs Skype/SIP VoIP for calls,
wouldn't it be great to know how much the last call was in $$
equivalent along with the current call duration time? AFAIK It is available
in desktop Skype.

Store SMS messages in an IMAP folder

Posted on 2009-12-07 13:26 UTC by Andraž Levstik. Status: Under consideration, Categories: Internet & Networking.

Ability to store SMSes on an IMAP folder would be nice. I consider SMS a different priority than IM. IM I tend to just wipe when I don't need it. SMSes I'd like to keep for a longer period.

As my imap server gets backed up daily this makes it the nicest way of doing it.

Plugin For Web SMS

Many voip plans come with sms at a much cheaper rate than is offered by mobile network providers. The downside to using web sms is that sms's sent through the web interface and not stored with other sent messages and arent included as part of conversations.

Providing support for Generic Access Network (GAN)/Unlicensed Mobile Access (UMA)

The N900 does not currently support Generic Network Access (GAN), which is often also referred to by its implementation, "Unlicensed Mobile Access (UMA)".  This is a feature that, if implemented by a mobile provider, allows acess to a 3G/GSM network through a generic Internet (IP) connection.  In the case of the N900, this would be an 802.11 Wi-fi connection.  This allows voice calls and SMS in places that have poor or zero cellular signal reception (e.g. basements, shielded buildings).  This also effectively bypasses the need to purchase a separate Femtocell.
