contacts integration in calendar

A calendar is frequently used to organize meetings with contacts, yet the calendar and contacts functions integration could be improved in Maemo5.

Maps/Contacts/Calendar Integration

Posted on 2009-10-04 20:15 UTC by Tom Joyce. Status: Under consideration, milestone: Harmattan, Categories: Location & Navigation, Office.

Many people have appointments at addresses which are stored in their Contacts directory.  It wopuld be nice to link the address information with the appointment and link that to the event's location in Maps.  Ovi Maps on S60 already has the ability to search for properly formatted addresses from Contacts and one would assume the Maemo version will have the same facility.

Add Portrait mode input

To allow input in one-handed portrait mode usage, one would need an effective input method.

E.g. when using a portrait mode messaging client.

Add universal support for ASR (automatic screen rotation) throughout the UI

It would be nice if the N900's UI rotated no matter what app you used. While third party apps can stipulate a specific mode such as portrait or landscape, the UI should support it natively in all parts of the UI.

The N97 is a perfect example of a similarly configure device that supports ASR and can be used as a case study.

Email (Modest): Keep Sent and Drafts on IMAP server

Modest stores sent email and draft emails locally. Evolution, for instance, allows you to choose folders on your IMAP account, in the preferences.

I use IMAP specifically so I can use any client on any machine and see all of my mails. I don't want any client storing things locally, except as a cache. Thus, I'd like to keep my Sent and Drafts folders on my IMAP server.
